Char (Chai)

In 1920, the Fuchow (Foochow) factory produced the Char (or Chai) training seaplane for the Chinese Navy. This was a two-seat, two-bay wooden biplane, primarily designed for instructional purposes.

Design and Propulsion

The Char (Chai) was equipped with an American Curtiss V.8 engine, delivering 100 hp. This provided the necessary power for its role as a naval training aircraft.

Production and Modernization

Several units of the aircraft were produced in total. By 1921, some of these aircraft underwent modernization, likely to enhance their performance or adapt them to evolving operational requirements.
