Posted on April 13, 2026 By

The light multi-purpose aircraft CP-90 Pinocchio II was designed and built by French engineer Claude Piel in the mid-1980s. Its prototype made its inaugural flight on August 27, 1986. This innovative aircraft was conceived as a single-seat, cantilever low-wing monoplane.

Design and Development

Initially, the CP-90 Pinocchio II was equipped with a 65 horsepower Continental engine. However, the design allowed for versatility in powerplants. Alternative options included various Continental and Lycoming engines, providing a power range from 65 to 160 horsepower.

Engine Specifications and Production

In total, two examples of the aircraft were constructed. These included the F-PLCL, fitted with a 100 horsepower engine, and the F-PRIN, powered by a 90 horsepower engine. These models demonstrated the aircraft’s adaptable engineering.
