Akaflieg Berlin B12

The Akaflieg Berlin B12 is a versatile two-seater glider, developed by the student group Akaflieg Berlin. Its prototype first flew on July 27, 1977. This glider is designed for both sporting events and training.

Design and Purpose

The single B12 glider (D-7612) was damaged during transport in 1986. It was subsequently restored and modified with a T-shaped tail section, giving rise to the B12T variant. This updated version made its maiden flight on August 11, 1987.

Evolution and Legacy

The B12 glider’s design proved foundational, later being utilized in the conception of its improved successor, the Akaflieg Berlin B13.
