Bearhawk Companion

The Bearhawk Companion is a light multi-purpose aircraft, produced by the American company Bearhawk Aircraft. The project was developed by American engineer Bob Barrows in the late 2010s, building upon the Bearhawk 4-Place model. This versatile aircraft was first unveiled in August 2019, with the first kit delivered in October of the same year.

Development and Key Features

The Bearhawk Companion is a two-seater braced high-wing monoplane. It comes equipped with a four-cylinder Lycoming O-320 engine producing 150 hp (110 kW) and a two-blade propeller. Alternatively, piston engines ranging from 150 hp to 215 hp can be used as the powerplant.

Modular Design and Capacity

When creating the Companion model, Bob Barrows utilized the wings from the Bearhawk Patrol aircraft and the fuselage from the Bearhawk 4-Place. The two rear seats were removed to make way for a spacious baggage compartment, capable of holding up to 100 kg. The two remaining crew seats were installed side-by-side.

The Bearhawk Companion is offered to buyers as a kit for self-assembly, providing a customizable building experience. This approach has proven popular among aviation enthusiasts.
