BFW Eindecker

Origins and Development
In 1918, the Munich-based firm Bayrische Flugzeugwerke (BFW) began, on its own initiative, the development of a military auxiliary monoplane with a curved wing.
Technical Specifications
The aircraft, which received the company designation Versuchseindecker (i.e., simply experimental aircraft), was built using the fuselage from a BFW CL.II. It was a single-seat, high-wing monoplane, equipped with an Arsus As.III engine delivering 180 hp.
Military Trials and Outcome
In the summer of 1918, the aircraft was handed over to the military, where it received the designation BFW E (from Eindecker – monoplane). However, the test program could not be completed, and the aircraft remained without an official index.
