Br.530 Saigon

Origins and Development

The Br.530 Saigon was a transport flying boat developed by the French firm Breguet Aviation. This model represented the civil passenger variant of the long-range flying boat Breguet Br.521 Bizerte.

Features and Production

The first flight of the Br.530 Saigon occurred in May 1934. Only two units of this aircraft were built in total. While similar in main configuration to the Br.521, the Saigon was distinguished by its horn-balanced rudder.

Operational Service

Both aircraft entered service with Air France in early 1935. Their primary operational route was between Marseille, Ajaccio, and Tunis, contributing to passenger transport in the Mediterranean.
