The A.7 was a reconnaissance aircraft developed by the Italian firm Breda. The A.7LD model featured a braced monoplane design with a parasol wing, a two-seat cockpit, and fixed landing gear, making it a robust and suitable aircraft for its reconnaissance role.

Development and Production

Two initial prototypes were assembled, powered by 400 hp (298 kW) Lorraine-Dietrich engines. Following successful trials, these were succeeded by 12 serial production machines, designated A.7 Asso, which entered service with reconnaissance units of the Italian Air Force in 1929, marking its operational deployment.

Variants and Powerplant

The serial production A.7 aircraft were fitted with Isotta-Fraschini Asso engines, enhancing their performance. This versatile aircraft was also produced in two main versions to meet different operational requirements: a land-based variant, equipped with wheels for airfield operations, and a naval version, adapted with floats for amphibious duties.
