Breese R-6

Following his initial success with the Breese-Wild 5, Vance Breese developed the Breese R-6-C dive bomber project for the U.S. Army Air Corps. This was a single-seat, braced high-wing monoplane of mixed construction, powered by a 330 hp Wright J-6 (R-975) Whirlwind engine.

The sole prototype (X844N) failed to interest the military. It did not meet the specific army specifications, leading to its rejection.
Transformation to Civilian Transport
Only five years later, the project gained a second life. Vance Breese and Russel H. Lawson decided to redesign it into the R-6-3 transport aircraft. The pilot was located in an open cockpit, while four passengers were accommodated in an enclosed cabin.
The Breese R-6-3 in Service
The single example of this aircraft (NC12725) was subsequently used for passenger transportation from Portland Airport.
