Burraf Eberhard
Born on June 6, 1918, Burraf Eberhard completed flight school in October 1942. He was subsequently assigned to Jagdgeschwader 1 (JG 1). From May 21, 1943, his unit, 3./JG 1, based in Holland, began actively engaging American bombers.
Early Combat and First Victories
Eberhard achieved his first aerial victory on May 21, 1943, shooting down an enemy aircraft north of Ameland. On July 28, during another engagement, his own aircraft was shot down, forcing him to make an emergency landing. He was shot down a second time on February 10, 1944.
Leadership and Later Engagements
On March 1, 1944, Eberhard was appointed Staffelkapitän of 4./JG 1. He was shot down once more on March 29. In March 1945, he became the Staffelkapitän of 9./JG 51, achieving his final victory on March 22 by downing a Soviet Pe-2 bomber.
