The C-212M Aviocar (Special Mission Version) is a multi-purpose patrol and special mission aircraft. Developed by the Spanish firm CASA, it is based on the C-212 Aviocar transport aircraft. This robust platform was specifically designed to handle a variety of complex operational tasks.

Advanced Variants and Equipment

The aircraft was manufactured in three primary versions: anti-submarine warfare, maritime patrol, and coast guard. These specialized configurations allowed it to perform diverse roles effectively. It was equipped with an APS-128 search radar, an electronic intelligence system, sonar devices, and magnetic anomaly detection equipment to bolster its surveillance capabilities.

Operational History and Global Operators

Serial production of the C-212M Aviocar began in 1979. Its versatility and specialized features led to its adoption by numerous navies across the globe. The aircraft was supplied to the navies of Spain, Angola, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, Sweden, UAE, Sudan, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Key Technical Specifications

The first serial modification of the aircraft was powered by Garrett TPE331-10-503C turboprop engines. This engine configuration provided essential performance and reliability, crucial for its demanding special mission profiles.
