Caudron C.68

In early 1922, the Caudron C.68, a light multi-purpose aircraft, was built by the Caudron company based on a design by Paul Deville. This was a two-seater, single-strut biplane, powered by a 50 hp (37 kW) Anzani air-cooled six-cylinder engine.
Innovative Design Features
To facilitate storage in hangars, the aircraft was equipped with a simple and reliable wing-folding system. This innovative feature enhanced its practicality and ease of use, a significant advantage for its time.
Public Demonstrations and Acclaim
Throughout 1922, the C.68 actively participated in demonstration flights, showcasing impressive aerobatic maneuvers. Towards the end of the year, it was prominently displayed at the Paris Air Show, drawing significant attention from the public and aviation enthusiasts.
A notable publicity coup for the aircraft was its landing in Paris near the Grand Palais on December 16, 1922. This event further cemented its public image and demonstrated its versatility and operational ease.
Production and International Interest
A total of six Caudron C.68 aircraft were produced. One of these units was sold to Great Britain, indicating early international interest in Caudron’s innovative designs and the aircraft’s potential.
The C.68 proved to be a successful design, blending practical features with impressive flight capabilities, making it a valuable addition to early 1920s aviation history.
