Cessna 140

The Cessna 140 is a light multi-purpose aircraft, developed by the American firm Cessna Aircraft Co. This model represents a further development of the light aircraft Cessna Model 120. The basic Cessna 120 model was enhanced by the Cessna 140 “Lux” model, which featured manually operated flaps, additional cabin windows, and a unified electrical system.

Early Popularity and Production

Its first flight occurred on June 28, 1945. Although the aircraft’s cost rose to 3245 US dollars, this did not hinder a significant increase in its popularity. A total of 4881 units of the Cessna 140 were produced.

The Cessna 140A: Upgrades and Evolution

Following the main modification, a new variant designated as Cessna Model 140A was introduced. The primary distinction of this aircraft was a new Continental C-90 engine with 90 horsepower. Additionally, the wings were reinforced, and the double strut was replaced with a single one.

The first flight of this modification took place in January 1949. The cost of the Cessna 140A was set at 3695 dollars, and a total of 2843 units of this model were manufactured, solidifying Cessna’s presence in light aviation.
