Cessna 560XL Citation Excel

The Cessna 560XL Citation Excel is an administrative aircraft, a light business jet developed by the American firm Cessna Aircraft Company. This model emerged from extensive consumer surveys, addressing desires for advancements in engine technology and airframe design for light business aircraft.

Innovative Design and Comfort

The Excel’s foundation is a shortened fuselage derived from the Citation X model, combined with an unswept supercritical wing similar to that of the Citation V Ultra. This unique blend was designed to offer superior comfort and performance. Cessna proudly announced that the Citation Excel’s cabin was the largest among business jets of its class.

A distinctive feature of the aircraft is its full stand-up aisle, extending along the entire length of the main cabin. The VIP cabin is configured to transport up to 8 passengers, furnished with soft, ergonomic leather seats, ensuring a luxurious travel experience.

Advanced Propulsion and Milestones

The Citation Excel was notable for being the first to incorporate the new generation PW-500 series engines, enhancing its efficiency and power. The aircraft was officially introduced at the NBAA meeting in New Orleans in 1994, where its innovative design and passenger-centric features were highlighted.

Its maiden flight took place on February 29, 1996, in Wichita. Certification for the aircraft was anticipated in January 1998, with the first fully completed aircraft scheduled for delivery to customers in the second quarter of 1998. The list price for the aircraft was approximately 6.795 million US dollars as of September 1997.
