Andrey Alexeevich Bordyugov

Andrey Alexeevich Bordyugov was born in 1922 in the village of Terny, Krasnolimansky district, Donetsk region. He completed secondary school before joining the Red Army in 1940. In 1943, he successfully graduated from the Voroshilovgrad Pilot School.
Early Life and Training
His active service on the front began in August 1943, where he served with the 955th Assault Aviation Regiment (SHAP). He took part in the fierce battles for Donbas, a strategically important region, followed by combat operations in the Krivoy Rog region.
Combat on the Eastern Front
By mid-1944, Bordyugov was transferred to the 3rd Baltic Front. There, he played a crucial role in the Pskov-Ostrov, Tartu, and Riga operations, contributing significantly to Soviet advances in the Baltic.
Throughout the war, Andrey Alexeevich Bordyugov completed an impressive total of 135 combat sorties. For his exceptional bravery and service, on August 18, 1945, Senior Lieutenant Bordyugov was awarded the prestigious title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
Awards and Post-War Career
After the war, he continued his service in the Soviet Air Force. He was discharged to the reserve in 1973. Andrey Alexeevich Bordyugov resided in the city of Chernihiv.
