Bendix 51

In 1944, Bendix Corporation CEO Ernst Breech ordered the creation of the Bendix Personal Airplane Div. The first aircraft developed by this department was the light multipurpose Bendix 51, released in 1945. Engineer Vern Biasell, who previously worked for Stinson, led the design.
Design and Concept
The Bendix 51 was a four-seater, twin-boom, high-wing monoplane. It was powered by a 100 hp Franklin 6AC engine, featuring a distinctive pusher propeller configuration.
Variants and Fate
The single prototype (NX34106) underwent testing but did not enter series production. In the same year, an amphibious variant, the Bendix 51A (NX40051), was released. This version differed only in its redesigned lower section, adapted for takeoff and landing from water surfaces. Unfortunately, this amphibious model also failed to attract buyers.
