Br.892 Mercure

The Br.892 Mercure was a short-haul passenger aircraft, developed by the French firm Breguet Aviation. Its design was based on the Br.890 project and it was built in parallel with the Br.891R Mars military transport aircraft.

Design and Technical Specifications

Key differences for the passenger version included the installation of four SNECMA Renault 12S-02 engines. These were a French version of the Argus AS 411 engines, each delivering 570 hp. The passenger cabin was designed to accommodate 36 people.

Development and Final Fate

The prototype’s first flight, with registration F-WFDO, took place on March 1, 1949. Despite its good flight characteristics, the aircraft received no orders and remained a single example, marking the end of its production.
