Breda A.3

The A.3 was a night bomber developed by the Italian firm Breda. It marked the company’s first military aircraft design, taking its maiden flight in 1924.
Engine Evolution
Initially, the aircraft was fitted with four 220-horsepower SPA 6A engines. These were later replaced by two more powerful 400-horsepower Lorraine-Dietrich 12 Db engines in an effort to enhance its performance.
Testing and Legacy
Flight tests of the A.3 revealed a number of shortcomings and mediocre flight characteristics. This led to the decision to create a more advanced aircraft, culminating in the development of the Breda A.8. Only a single example of the A.3 was ever produced.
