Bristol Type 91 Brownie

The Bristol Type 91 Brownie, a light multi-purpose aircraft, was designed by Captain Frank Barnwell. This aircraft was specifically built for a light aircraft competition organized by the Aviation Ministry in Lympne, Kent. Its primary goal was to perform exceptionally in this significant event of its time.
Development and Competition
A total of three examples of this model were manufactured. The first Bristol Type 91 Brownie took to the skies on August 6, 1926, marking its inaugural flight. During the competition, one of the Brownie aircraft successfully secured second place, highlighting its design and capabilities.
Operational History
The other two Brownie aircraft enjoyed an extended service life. They were actively utilized by the Bristol and Wessex Aero Clubs for many years. Their long service with these clubs underscored their reliability and versatility as light aircraft.
