The Caproni Ca.100 aircraft was built in 1929, based on the de Havilland D.H.60 Moth model. It featured minor differences in structural elements, including an enlarged lower wing. Initially, it was equipped with de Havilland Gipsy engines producing 85 hp.

Subsequently, it utilized powerplants of various capacities, including the Blackburn Cirrus Minor (90 hp), Colombo S.63 (145 hp), and Fiat A50 (85 hp). A twin-float seaplane variant, known as the Ca 100 Idro, also existed. Macchi built 30 of these aircraft.

Design and Notable Variants

In 1934, a light trainer-bomber variant emerged, equipped with a 130 hp radial piston engine, capable of carrying four small bombs. In 1931, the Ca 100 Idro set an altitude record for seaplanes, reaching 5018 meters.

International Production and Achievements

In 1935, the Peruvian government signed a contract with the Caproni company, granting it a ten-year monopoly for aircraft production and repair in the country. Several Ca 100s arrived there from Italy, and in May 1937, a factory opened in Peru, with plans to produce 25 Ca 100 aircraft within two years. However, due to high costs, only 12 machines were produced during this period.

Ca 100 type aircraft were also manufactured in Bulgaria under the designation KN-1.

Legacy and Further Adaptations

Aerobatic aircraft such as the Ca 104 and Ca 109 were developed based on the Ca 100.
