Caudron C.561

In 1936, Société des Avions Caudron built the C.561 racing aircraft. It represented a unique blend, incorporating the fuselage of the C.461 and the powerplant of the C.560, resulting in a single-seat, low-wing monoplane with a distinct construction.

Design and Technical Specifications

The C.561 was equipped with a Renault 446 engine, delivering 450 hp. Its design, combining elements from two previous models, promised significant performance, reflecting Caudron’s characteristic innovation in racing aviation during that era.

The Coupe Deutch Challenge and its Fate

Despite being specially built for the Coupe Deutch competition, the C.561 was ultimately unable to participate. Persistent engine problems thwarted its aspirations, leading engineer Marcel Riffard to abandon further development of the project and shift his focus to more promising machines.
