Caudron C-87

In 1924, the Caudron company decided to try its hand at developing flying boats. Engineer Gaspard developed the project for a light, multi-purpose amphibian flying boat, marking an innovative step for the French manufacturer.
Development and Maiden Flight
In the same year, the sole example of the Caudron C-87 aircraft (F-ESAC) was manufactured. This was a two-seater, two-bay biplane, equipped with a single radial engine. Its configuration aimed for versatility, though detailed information is limited.
Performance and Legacy
No further data about the amphibian has been preserved. It appears, however, that the flying boat did not perform well, as Caudron’s developers never returned to similar designs after this singular attempt. The C-87 remains a unique exploration in the company’s history.
