Cessna 175 Skylark

The first flight of the Model 175 prototype occurred in December 1955. This variant combined the airframe of an early Model 172 with a 175 hp Continental GO-300 engine. A newly built prototype, rather than a modified one, took to the skies in April 1956, though the initial production aircraft were based on unfinished Model 172D airframes.
Initial Development and Production
Following the 1237 Model 175 aircraft, 540 Model 175A Skylarks were built starting in 1960. These incorporated GO-300-C engines, a swept vertical stabilizer, and a hatch in the baggage compartment. The Model 175A represented a notable upgrade in features and performance.
Later Variants and Production Halt
In 1961, customers were offered a choice between the Model 175B Skylark and an improved Model 175C Skylark. 225 units of the former and 112 of the latter were built. However, serial production ceased in 1962 due to a sharp decline in sales volume, marking the end of the 175 line.
