Cessna 501 Citation I

The Cessna 501 Citation I is an administrative aircraft developed by the American firm Cessna Aircraft Company. This aircraft represents a modernized version of the Cessna 500 Citation. Five years after the release of the Model 500, the improved Model 501 Citation I variant appeared, featuring an increased wingspan and equipped with JT15D-1A engines.

Variants and Production

Soon after, the Model 501 Citation I/SP followed, a variant specifically certified for single-pilot operations. By the time production ceased in June 1985, a total of 691 Citation I aircraft had been sold.

Global Military Applications

A small number of Citation I aircraft were released to the air forces of several nations for use as VIP and staff transports. Other notable military sales included a single aerial photography aircraft for the Argentine Army, and a small quantity of liaison and communication aircraft for the air forces of China, Mexico, Venezuela, and the Ecuadorian Navy.
