Jaime Buye Berni

Jaime Buye Berni was born in San Andrés de Palomar on July 24, 1905. He began his military career as a mechanic in 1925 and obtained his pilot’s license on February 24, 1930. At the outset of the Civil War, he served in the 2nd Squadron of the 13th Group, remaining loyal to the Republic. He was wounded in combat on October 19.
Early Life and Civil War Service
After recovery, Buye Berni completed training in the USSR, returning in May. Subsequently, he fought on the Northern Front as part of the Escuadrilla Vasca, flying I-15 fighters.
Combat and Command Roles
On August 17, 1937, in adverse weather conditions, his aircraft’s engine stalled, forcing him to parachute. In September, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the 3ª Escuadrilla de Chatos, a position he held until the fall of the Republic.
Exile and Unknown Fate
In February 1939, Jaime Buye Berni was evacuated to France. There is no information available regarding his fate or activities after the war.
