Bokor Triplane

In 1909, Morris Bokor constructed a lightweight aircraft in New York. This was a single-seat triplane, powered by a 38 hp A&B four-cylinder automobile engine. It featured two pusher propellers, a design choice indicative of early aviation experimentation.

Design and Recognition

That same year, Bokor received the first prize of $500 from the Aeronautic Society for the perfection of his design. This marked a significant moment as it was the first monetary award in the United States ever received by an aeroplane, acknowledging the innovative spirit of early flight pioneers.

A Pioneering Attempt

Despite the prestigious Jane’s reference book calling it the third American machine to become airborne, both of Morris Bokor’s attempts to fly his triplane ultimately remained unsuccessful. This highlights the challenges faced by early aviators in transforming groundbreaking designs into fully functional flying machines.
