Cessna Citation CJ1+

Posted on April 21, 2026 By

The Cessna 525 Citation CJ1+ is an aircraft developed by the American firm Cessna Aircraft Company, succeeding the successful CitationJet model. The CJ1 and its extended version, the CJ2, were first showcased at the NNBA conference in October 1998 in Las Vegas.

Deliveries of the updated aircraft began in 2000. While the CJ1’s design is similar to the CitationJet, it incorporates several distinct features and innovations.

Key Features and Avionics

A mandatory inclusion in the CJ1 is the Collins Pro Line 21 avionics system. This system comprises two 8×10 inch adaptive flight displays, an HSI LCD display, and an ADI display for the co-pilot, along with an AlliedSignal CNI-5000 radio and a Collins RTA-800. The CJ1+ represents a modern modification of the original CJ1 aircraft.

Interior Design and Amenities

The CJ1+’s cabin is spacious and well-lit, designed in a new style using more expensive and high-quality finishing materials. The level floor features a recess for comfortable passage and passenger seating. Four cabin seats are arranged opposite each other, with convenient tables that neatly fold into the side walls when you’re ready to put work aside and relax.

The Citation CJ1+ features a typical small business jet layout, providing only the essentials for a short flight. A small lavatory and wardrobe are located at the rear of the cabin, while the baggage compartment is in the aircraft’s tail section and is not accessible from the cabin during flight.

Performance and Efficiency

The CJ1+ is equipped with two Williams FJ44-1AP engines, which increased the maximum takeoff weight by 100 pounds (45 kg) compared to the original CJ1. The aircraft can climb directly to an altitude of 12,497 meters in just 27 minutes.

Its cruising speed is now 720 km/h (448 mph or 389 knots). Efficiency was also significantly enhanced with the addition of digital electronic engine control regulators (FADEC), which simplify engine operation and reduce pilot workload during the busiest phases of flight. In 2008, the standard configuration cost of the aircraft was 4,755,000 US dollars.
