Leonard K. “Kit” Carson was born in Clearlake, Iowa. He flew with the 8th Air Force in Great Britain, piloting a “Mustang”.

He is credited with 18.5 enemy aircraft shot down in aerial combat, plus 3.5 aircraft destroyed on the ground. Leonard K. “Kit” Carson survived the war.
