Origins of Cox-Klemin Aircraft Corporation
In 1920, engineers Charles Cox and Alexander Klemin established the Cox-Klemin Aircraft Corporation in New York. Their inaugural project was a multi-purpose flying boat, which received the designation CK-1.
CK-1 Design and Specifications
Construction of the aircraft was completed in 1921. It was designed as a two-seater, high-wing monoplane, powered by two Italian Isotta-Fraschini Asso engines, each boasting 275 horsepower.
A Challenged Maiden Flight
The CK-1 was successfully launched onto the water. However, despite its promising design and powerful engines, the flying boat ultimately failed to achieve flight. This marked an unfortunate beginning for the innovative aircraft.
